Tezos Has Become A Partner of Manchester United FC

Tezos partnering up with Manchester United

As representatives of the New York-based Tezos blockchain platform confirmed to the media, Manchester United, the largest British football club, has entered into a partnership agreement with Tezos.

As part of the agreement, the project’s logo will be displayed on the training uniforms of both the club's men's and women's teams. Under the contract, which is designed for several years, United will receive more than £20 million a year. Fans will be able to see Tezos logo on their first team training kit ahead of the February 12 game against Southampton.

The previous sponsor, whose logo was placed on the Manchester United training kit, was the insurance company Aon. Under this contract, the club received £15 million a year for eight years.

Manchester United carried out due diligence of the company before signing an agreement with Tezos. Such caution is not out of place when clubs cooperate with cryptocurrency-related firms. So, in November 2021, Manchester City suspended cooperation with the 3Key cryptocurrency startup, failing to find enough information about the company and its owners, and Barcelona terminated the contract with the Ownix NFT marketplace after the arrest of the owner of the company, Moshe Hogeg.

Fans will be able to see the Tezos logo on their first team training kit ahead of the February 12 game against Southampton. The club is also using the platform's ecosystem to create new ways to interact with fans. Tezos has pledged to support the Manchester United Foundation's educational initiative with ongoing donations in XTZ tokens.

The club believes that the partnership with Tezos will enhance the commercial appeal of the brand. This season, the club from Manchester, after 22 Premier League matches, scored 38 points and is fourth in the standings.
