Binance Sponsors Africa Cup of Nations Tournament

    Binance to sponsor football championship

Binance, one of the world's largest cryptocurrency exchanges, sponsored a major sporting event in Cameroon –  the Africa Cup of Nations.

The other day in Cameroon, a major sporting event started – on January 9, a match between the national teams of Cameroon and Burkina Faso took place in Yaoundé. It was watched by 300 million people in 160 countries. This is the first match in the championship, which will last almost a month, until February 6, when the final game takes place. The competitions will be held in five cities of Cameroon at six stadiums. 24 teams will take part in them.

As part of its collaboration with the event's organizer, the Confederation of African Football, Binance will spread the news of these matches on social media. In addition, it will become the exclusive blockchain and crypto platform of the tournament. For the first time in its history, a crypto exchange takes part in such a major sports event.

Against the background of the Covid-19 pandemic, the tournament did not take place last year, and it was repeatedly postponed. The main sponsor of the competition is the oil and gas company TotalEnergies. The event is also sponsored by the popular social network TikTok.

The partnership with the Confederation of African Football is not just a fashion trend for the crypto exchange. The fact is that football is one of the most popular sports that unites many inhabitants of the black continent. The platform's participation in the tournament gives it an excellent opportunity to popularize cryptocurrencies in Africa.

As for CAF, the head of the federation announced his intention to take African football to a new level via blockchain technology.
