    Samsung Opens Its First Store On The Decentraland Platform

    In recent years, Samsung Corporation has been actively experimenting with cryptocurrencies, blockchain, and non-fungible tokens.

    Recently it became known that a virtual store Samsung 837X will be opened soon. It will allow users to interact with the metaverse within the Decentraland platform. 

    The Metaverse is a virtual space in which people interact with digital objects and with each other using virtual and augmented reality technologies.

    Decentraland is a virtual reality platform based on the Ethereum blockchain. Platform users can purchase land plots, build houses on them and extract minerals, monetizing this activity.

    The virtual store will be a replica modeled after the company's physical store located in the New York borough of Manhattan. A mixed-reality party will take place to mark the launch of the project Participants will be able to listen to the set of the famous DJ Gamma Vibes and take part in quests, getting prizes in the form of non-fungible tokens. The names of the winners will be announced on January 7th.

    The list of projects in which Samsung interacts with cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology is impressive. So, in 2019, the corporation invested 2.6 million euros ($ 2.9 million) in the development of the hardware wallet Ledger. In the same year, the corporation released a beta version of a software development kit (SDK) based on the Ethereum blockchain for the Galaxy line of smartphones.

    In February 2020, the company introduced a new generation of mobile phones that include a blockchain wallet with advanced security features.

    In May 2020, Samsung launched the world's first 5G Galaxy A Quantum smartphone with an integrated blockchain-based ID authentication service and introduced a turnkey standalone solution for securing cryptocurrency asset transactions on mobile devices.

    The corporation also integrated the custodian and trading service of the Gemini Bitcoin exchange into a blockchain wallet, added support for the Stellar blockchain to its Blockchain Keystore cryptocurrency platform, and added support for the Samsung Blockchain Wallet to most Galaxy devices.

    Last year, it became known about the corporation's plans to participate in the Bank of Korea (BC) project to create a pilot platform for the national digital currency (CBDC).

    Samsung also plans to launch the native token Samsung Coin.

    Recently, on January 3, the company introduced new models of smart TVs with a built-in platform for selling, buying and searching for digital works of art.

    The Samsung 837X store will be open for a limited time, so those who want to visit should do so as soon as possible.
